The Cyrix-ct battery coupler is a robust microprocessor-controlled relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel as soon as one of them reaches a predefined voltage (indicating that it is charging) and disconnects them when the voltage drops below the float level (indicating that one or more batteries are discharging). The Cyrix-ct battery couplers are an excellent replacement solution for diode separators. Their main feature is that they have almost no voltage drop, thus avoiding the need to correct the charging voltages of alternators or battery chargers.
The Cyrix-ct 12/24 automatically detects the system voltage. In a typical installation, the alternator is directly connected to the starter battery. The service battery is connected to the starter battery via Cyrix battery couplers. When a Cyrix detects that the starter battery has reached its activation voltage, it closes to allow the parallel charging of the other batteries. Bidirectional voltage detection and power supply from both batteries The Cyrix monitors the voltage of both connected batteries. It will also engage when the service battery is charged by a battery charger. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 has a dual power supply. It will also close if the voltage on one of the batteries is too low to operate the Cyrix. To prevent unwanted operation during installation or if a battery has been disconnected, the Cyrix-i 12/24 will not close if the voltage on one of the connections of these two batteries is below 2 V (12 V battery) or 4 V (24 V battery). Parallel connection in case of emergency The Cyrix can also be engaged with a push button (the Cyrix remains engaged for 30 s) or with a switch to manually connect the batteries in parallel. This can be very useful in an emergency when the starter battery is discharged or damaged.
