The Suzuki DF6A is a compact and lightweight 4-stroke outboard motor designed for portable use. Weighing approximately 24.0 kg (53 lbs) for the short-shaft model, it offers excellent mid-range torque and efficient performance. The engine features a 138 cm³ single-cylinder overhead valve (OHV) design with a bore and stroke of 60.4 × 48 mm. It delivers a maximum output of 4.4 kW (6 HP) at 4,750–5,750 rpm. The integral overhead fuel tank has a capacity of 1.0 liter, and the oil pan holds 0.7 liters. The ignition system utilizes a digital CDI, and the gear ratio is 1.92:1 with forward, neutral, and reverse gears. The motor is equipped with a manual trim and tilt system and an above-prop exhaust. Propeller selection ranges from 6 to 7 inches in pitch.
- Lightweight Design: The DF6A has been redesigned to reduce weight by approximately 1.0 kg, enhancing portability and operability.
- Enhanced User-Friendliness: The overhead integral fuel tank and new lubricating systems allow the outboard to be stored on any of three sides (port, starboard, or front) without fuel or oil leakage. The gravity-fed fuel supply system enables instant starting after refueling, even after long-term storage.
- Improved Handle Operation: The redesigned tiller handle reduces vibrations, minimizing fatigue and stress during operation.
- Offset Crankshaft: The slightly off-center crankshaft reduces lateral pressure against the cylinder wall, resulting in smoother piston movement and improved operating efficiency.
- Quiet Operation: The silencer design optimizes air intake capacity and shape, while the new rocker arm and plane bearing of the crankshaft help reduce noise levels.
- Highly Reliable Lubricating System: The forced lubrication system includes an additional oil passage to the upper and lower crankshaft and connecting rod big end, along with an oil filter, enhancing reliability.
- Three-Way Storage: The fuel and lubricating systems allow convenient storage of the outboard on any of three sides without worrying about the storage orientation.
- New Tilt System: The tilt system offers different up-and-down paths of the shallow drive arm compared with previous models, with three lockable positions when raised and smooth lowering without locking.
- Suzuki's Anti-Corrosion System: An anti-corrosion finish is applied directly to the aluminum surface, increasing protection and durability of parts exposed to saltwater.
- Lower Emissions, Efficient Operation: Suzuki's advanced four-stroke technologies deliver highly efficient operation and lower emissions, conforming to strict standards, including the EURO 1 Emissions Standards and receiving a three-star rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
