The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors®

Founded in 1987, The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors® (SAMS®) emerged from a desire among marine surveyors for a professional organization that reflects their unique outlook. With roots tracing back to a conference in Brunswick, Maine, SAMS® has established itself as a nonprofit corporation based in Jacksonville, Florida. The organization aims to enhance the image and well-being of marine surveyors, providing a platform for professional development through continuing education and ethical guidelines. SAMS® offers a Surveyor Associate program for less experienced members to learn from accredited professionals. The society also fosters communication among its members and other marine organizations, while providing resources and training for those interested in marine surveying. SAMS® is committed to maintaining high standards and controlled growth within the profession.
