The Sikagard-220 Mineralising is a dust-reducing surface hardener and waterproofing agent for porous cement-based substrates developed by Sika. It is a water-based synthetic resin enriched with non-film-forming active mineral components that penetrates deeply into the pores of concrete and screeds.
In contact with the free lime contained in the cement, the Sikagard-220 Mineralising triggers a mineralisation reaction forming mineral compounds integrated into the crystalline structure of the hardened mortar. This reaction leads to a durable hardening of the surface while significantly reducing porosity and capillarity due to the formation of hydrated insoluble salts that block pores and capillaries.
The product ensures a strong reduction in dusting and powdering by coating the grains with the polymerisable resin. The treated surfaces become more resistant to abrasion, less sensitive to soiling, and easier to clean, including by washing with high-pressure water.
The Sikagard-220 Mineralising also provides increased chemical resistance, effectively protecting against fats, oils, organic acids, and diluted bases. The treated concrete and screeds become waterproof and more resistant to external aggressions, whether of marine, industrial, or urban origin. It can be used indoors and outdoors on new or old horizontal substrates for preventive or curative treatment.
