Compatibility Information

  • Surface Compatibility: Suitable for polyester, steel, and wood surfaces; not recommended for lightweight alloys or aluminum.
  • Primer Requirement: Requires a bonding primer on polyester surfaces for optimal adhesion.

Application Instructions

  1. Surface Preparation:
    • New Hull: Sand the new gelcoat with fine-grain sandpaper. Clean the gelcoat using a hull and deck degreasing cleaner. Allow to dry. Apply a bonding primer to isolate the hull from the antifouling and promote adhesion.
    • Old Antifouling: Clean the surface of all dirt and eliminate any surface defects (bubbles, peeling, etc.). Use a high-pressure jet to remove the old antifouling. Use a paint stripper for antifouling and sand with coarse-grain sandpaper to remove as much of the old antifouling as possible. Apply the new antifouling.
  2. Application: Apply masking tape to delineate the area to be painted. Mask the anodes to avoid covering them with antifouling. Apply the first coat of antifouling on your hull. Allow to dry for 1 to 2 hours; the first coat must be dry to the touch before applying the second. Apply the second coat of antifouling. Finish with the application of a third coat on sensitive areas (waterline, rudder, etc.). Wait 4 to 6 hours before launching back into the water to allow the biocides to diffuse evenly in the layers of antifouling.

Safety Precautions

  • When sanding the antifouling, it is essential to wear a mask to avoid inhaling toxic dust.
  • Use gloves, a mask, and protective clothing.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
