The Cabesto Erodable Antifouling Matrix - Sailing is a tin-free, high-copper-content antifouling paint designed for the maintenance of boats submerged in moderately to heavily polluted waters. It is suitable for various substrates, including polyester, steel, and wood, but should not be applied to lightweight alloys such as aluminum. The product allows direct adhesion on any polyester substrate previously primed with a bonding primer. With a high copper content of 24% and a final dry extract of 40%, Cabesto antifouling offers excellent value for boaters seeking effectiveness in polluted waters. It ensures at least one year of protection and is compatible with most antifoulings on the market.

Compatibility Information
Compatible with polyester, steel, and wood substrates. Not suitable for aluminum surfaces. Compatible with most antifoulings on the market.
Preparation of the Surface to be Painted
On a New Hull
- Sand the new gelcoat with fine grit.
- Clean the gelcoat using a hull and deck degreasing cleaner.
- Allow to dry.
- Apply a bonding primer to isolate the hull from the antifouling and promote adhesion.
On Old Antifouling
- Clean the substrate of all dirt and eliminate any surface defects (bubbles, peeling, etc.).
- Use a high-pressure jet to remove the old antifouling.
- Use a paint stripper for antifouling and sand with coarse grit to remove as much of the old antifouling as possible.
- Apply your antifouling.
It is advisable to redo your primer every 3 years to limit the risk of osmosis and ensure perfect sealing between the hull and antifouling.
Application
- Apply masking tape to delineate the area to be painted.
- Mask the anodes to avoid covering them with antifouling.
- Apply a first coat of antifouling to your hull.
- Allow to dry for 1 to 2 hours; the first coat must be dry to the touch before applying the second.
- Apply the second coat of antifouling.
- Finish with the application of a third coat on sensitive areas (waterline, rudder, etc.).
- Wait 4 to 6 hours before launching back into the water to allow the biocides to diffuse evenly in the layers of antifouling.
Safety Precautions
- When sanding the antifouling, it is essential to wear a mask to avoid inhaling toxic dust.
- Use gloves, a mask, and protective clothing.
- Keep out of reach of children.
