The SPEAR & JACKSON biofork - 4 tines - steel - 111 cm has the unique feature that once it is driven into the ground, it does not turn it over and leaves the top layer of soil with its microorganisms: the soil is not ploughed but only broken and loosened throughout the worked depth. The biofork acts in contrast to a spade during ploughing or a rotavator. Indeed, these "classic" tools mix the entire depth of the worked soil, with the surface layer, which is richest in humus and needs oxygen, ending up at the bottom where there is no air and is therefore asphyxiated, while the less rich bottom layer comes to the surface.
