Application Method
To Achieve Good Adhesion, Surfaces To Which Sika® Primer-209 D Is Applied Must Be Clean, Dry, And Free Of Grease, Oil, Dust, And Other Contaminants. In Some Cases, Adhesion Can Be Improved By Adding And/Or Combining Pre-Treatment Processes Such As Abrasion, Cleaning, And Activation.
Before Application, Shake The Container Of Sika® Primer-209 D Thoroughly Until The Mixing Ball Moves Freely. Continue Shaking For Another Minute And Apply A Thin But Coating Layer Using A Brush, Felt Pad, Or Sponge.
The Ideal Temperature For Application And Surface Preparation Is Between 15°C And 25°C.
Sika® Primer-209 D Should Be Applied In A Thin And Coating Layer Only Once. Take Care To Ensure That This Single Application Provides Sufficiently Dense Coverage. Consumption And Application Method Depend On The Specific Nature Of The Substrates. After Use, Tightly Close The Container Of Sika® Primer-209 D To Prevent Solvent Loss.
Sika® Primer-209 D Is Used In The Marine Industry To Improve Adhesion Of Plastic And Paint Substrates Before Applying Sika One-Component Polyurethanes, Such As In Fiberglass Repairs Or Window Installations. This Primer Can Also Be Used To Enhance Adhesion Of Other Sika Adhesives And Sealants To Painted And Plastic Surfaces. Its Ability To Provide Excellent Adhesion Without Additional Activation Steps On Some Plastic Substrates Makes It Particularly Useful In The Marine Industry To Simplify And Speed Up The Surface Preparation Process For Bonding.
