Product Information

To Ensure A Lasting Bond With Sikaflex®-296, Surfaces Must Be Clean, Dry, And Free Of Any Traces Of Grease, Oil, Dust, And Contaminants. The Surface Treatment Depends On The Specific Nature Of The Substrates, And Suggestions Can Be Found In The Appropriate Sika® Pre-Treatment Table. However, These Suggestions Should Be Verified Through Tests On Original Substrates.

Application Guidelines

  • Sikaflex®-296 Can Be Extruded Between 10 And 35 °C (Climate And Product), But The Optimal Temperature For Substrate And Sealant Is Between 15 °C And 25 °C.
  • It Is Recommended To Condition The Adhesive At Room Temperature Before Use To Facilitate Application.
  • To Ensure A Uniform Thickness Of The Joint Line, It Is Recommended To Apply The Adhesive In The Form Of A Triangular Bead.
  • Sikaflex®-296 Can Be Extruded With Manual, Pneumatic, Or Electric Guns.
  • However, The Open Time Is Significantly Shorter In Hot And Humid Climates, So The Glass Must Always Be Installed Within The Open Time And Never Join Adhesive Parts If The Adhesive Has Formed A Skin.

Tooling and Finishing

Tooling And Finishing Should Be Done Within The Product's Skin Formation Time, And It Is Recommended To Use Sika® Tooling Agent N For Finishing.

Cleanup and Safety

  • Uncured Sikaflex®-296 Can Be Removed With Sika® Remover-208 Or Another Suitable Solvent, While Once Cured, The Material Can Only Be Mechanically Removed.
  • It Is Recommended To Wash Hands And Exposed Skin Immediately With Wipes Such As Sika® Cleaner-350H Or A Suitable Industrial Hand Cleaner And Water, But Not To Use Solvents On The Skin.
