Drill bits 1 - 10mm in 0.5mm increments. RS PRO HSS 19 Piece Drill Bit Set. RS PRO offers this exceptional Drill Bit Set made from HSS with a Titanium coating for high-performance, offering more resistance than high carbon steel bits. It contains a great selection of the most commonly used diameters from 1mm to 10 mm in 0.5 mm increments. These High-Speed Steel (HSS) are constructed from a single piece of high-speed steel, thus reducing breaking and blunting under heat or stress. The Titanium coating reduces friction on the material allowing the drill bit to last up too 3 times longer when compared to standard HSS bits. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 338 for high precision tolerances and geometric accuracies. Typical Applications. HSS bits features a partially grounded tip making it suitable for non-ferrous metals, which include aluminium, copper, brass, zinc and iron. It can be used for drilling applications involving plastic, wood and masonry however, the performance is affected. Features and Benefits. 19 Piece HSS Drill bit set Titanium coating for reduced friction Heat treated to HRC 60° - 66° 135° Split Point The shaft is equal to the diameter of the drill for low breakages Cuts faster and lasts longer than regular high carbon steel bits Heavy duty Steel Case with a moulded rigid insert drill store. FAQ's. Q. What does jobber mean?. A. The word jobber specifies the length of the drill bit. This generally means the length of the entire drill bit itself is significantly longer for diameter it has. As an example, a mechanic drill bit will have a much shorter flute and therefore have a much smaller overall length. Q. What is HSS?. A. An acronym for High-speed steel, HSS is generally the go-to type of steel needed for drill bits due to their excellent heat resistance at high speeds. As a standard drill can spin upwards of around 500 - 700rpm, the friction can cause a substantial build-up of heat. Something which would not be wanted when working with wood and plastic.
