IMPORTANT INFORMATION: EVOLUTION OF DIVISION 240 ON THE USE OF CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Since December 2023, the regulations of Division 240 have evolved: the vessel's pilot must wear the circuit breaker on their wrist or leg as soon as the engine is started.

"From the moment when the engine or engines of the vessel are in operation, the pilot of the concerned pleasure craft is required to wear the circuit breaker at all times.

They can do this on their arm or leg, but they are prohibited from connecting the safety equipment to another element or from removing it. And this applies regardless of the reason or duration of the event!”

Another evolution of Division 240 is that it is now mandatory to have 2 circuit breakers on the vessel.

"Division 240 now requires that a second wired or electronic circuit breaker be kept on board the motor vessel, to be used as a replacement circuit breaker.

The location of this new onboard equipment must also be indicated, to allow any crew member to assist the captain in case of a man overboard situation.

With the second circuit breaker, a crew member remaining on board could then restart the engine or engines, take the helm, and ensure the rescue of the helmsman who has gone overboard with the first circuit breaker."
