The Nodus Loc® 2-Part Adhesive is a high-performance, fast-curing methacrylate adhesive designed specifically for marine applications, particularly for bonding rigging components on boats. This professional-grade adhesive offers rapid polymerization at room temperature, ensuring a strong and durable bond suitable for various materials commonly found in marine environments.

  • Rapid Curing: Sets within 3 to 5 minutes at room temperature, allowing for quick assembly and reduced production cycles.
  • High Shear Strength: Provides a shear strength ranging from 12 to 24 MPa, depending on the substrate, ensuring a robust and reliable bond.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for bonding a wide range of materials, including plastics (PMMA, PC, PVC, ABS), metals (stainless steel, chrome, steel, aluminum), and composites (GRP, FRP, carbon fiber, DCPD epoxy gelcoats).
  • Environmental Resistance: Resistant to vibrations, shocks, and various weather conditions, making it ideal for marine environments.
  • Post-Application Flexibility: Once cured, the bonded surfaces can be drilled, sanded, or painted without compromising the adhesive's integrity.

Technical Specifications:

  • Composition: Two-component methacrylate system consisting of a resin (Part A) and a hardening agent (Part B).
  • Chemical Resistance: Offers good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, acids, bases (pH 3 to 10), and salt solutions.
  • Toxicity: Formulation is neither toxic nor carcinogenic, free from DNPT, Dimethylaniline, and phthalates.

Materials:

  • Part A: Contains 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate, 1,4-dihydroxybenzene, and cumene hydroperoxide.
  • Part B: Contains methacrylic acid, 1-benzoyl-2-ethylimidazole, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and methyl methacrylate.

Compatibility Information: Nodus Loc® is compatible with various substrates commonly used in marine applications, including plastics (PMMA, PC, PVC, ABS), metals (stainless steel, chrome, steel, aluminum), and composites (GRP, FRP, carbon fiber, DCPD epoxy gelcoats).

Application Instructions:

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease. Clean with a suitable degreaser and allow to dry completely.
  2. Mixing: Combine equal parts of Part A and Part B. The product can be applied directly from the double cartridge equipped with a static mixer. Discard the first 1 to 2 cm of extruded bead.
  3. Application: Apply the mixed adhesive to one of the surfaces to be bonded. Do not spread the product with a cloth or brush. Assemble quickly, as adjustment time is very short.
  4. Assembly: Hold the assembled parts together until sufficient strength is achieved to handle the parts.
  5. Curing: Allow time for the product to reach its maximum strength before stressing the parts (typically 24 hours after assembly).

Removal Instructions: If removal is necessary before the adhesive has fully cured, it is easier to do so while the glue is still soft. Rub the adhesive with a cloth soaked in vinegar, acetone, or isopropyl alcohol. The glue will soften, making it easier to remove. To detach padeyes or spinners, use a chisel or flat-head screwdriver, tapping gently with a hammer on the edge of the padeye or spinner to detach it from the glued surface. The detachment will be laminar, leaving residues of material and glue to be removed.
