Royal Aluminium Horizontal Windlass

LOFRANS

Established in 1966, Lofrans has never stopped innovating, becoming one of the world leaders in the manufacture of windlasses, anchors, capstans, and other nautical equipment.

This small-sized horizontal windlass made of aluminium is suitable for boats from 6m to 27m.

It is a practical, economical and reliable model.

Its reduced weight compared to the horizontal models Cayman, Kobra, and Tigres ensures greater manoeuvrability

Two types of models are offered

- A model supplied without a drum

- A model supplied with a drum

The drum is designed to pull both a chain and a rope

However, it is possible to pull rope with the model having only a gypsy.

To do this, simply tie the rope to the chain in a compatible configuration. (See table for rope/chain compatibility

However, after a certain time, the gypsy may wear the anchor, and slightly reduce its diameter.

This is where the drum becomes interesting as it can pull the anchor, regardless of its wear.

The anodised aluminium that makes up the windlass enhances corrosion protection, while improving the visual appearance.

The windlass is supplied with:

- The gypsy

- The installation manual in French

- A lever to use the windlass in manual mode

ALL LOFRANS WINDLASSES COME WITH 2 YEARS OF LEGAL WARRANTY + 1 YEAR OF FREE COMMERCIAL WARRANTY.

Features: Royal Aluminium Horizontal Windlass

A windlass consists of 2 main parts which are:

- The drum: This is a cylindrical part, integrated into the windlass or optional, allowing the rope to be retrieved by winding it around.

- The gypsy: This is an elongated and notched part, allowing the passage of the chain.

Note: The gypsy may sometimes have a stopper to hold the chain.

The desired power for your windlass is calculated using the following formula:

[Weight of the anchor + (length of the hull x5 x weight of the chain per linear metre)] x 5

The result obtained corresponds to the maximum working load (lifting force) which must be less than that indicated in the windlass specifications.
