Epoxy Primer for Antifouling - VC TAR 2 - International
VC Tar2 is a two-component epoxy primer providing protection against osmosis on polyester boats coated with gelcoat and corrosion protection on steel and lightweight alloy.
For use only below the waterline
Self-levelling to give an excellent finish
Easy to apply
Can be overcoated quickly
No sanding between coats
Provides excellent sealing
Can be used in preventive or curative osmosis treatment.
Ideal primer for the VC range of antifoulings
Application Tips
POLYESTER
Use Super Cleaner to clean and degrease the surface then sand with 240 grade dry or wet.
Perform a high-pressure wash with fresh water and allow to dry.
PROTECTION AGAINST OSMOSIS
Apply 3-5 coats of VC Tar2.
IMPORTANT : BEFORE APPLYING ON POLYESTER, TEST THE MOISTURE OF THE HULL ACCORDING TO THE
MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TESTER. FURTHER DETAILS ON MOISTURE LEVELS
CAN BE OBTAINED FROM INDEPENDENT EXPERTS.
CURATIVE OSMOSIS TREATMENT
Remove any existing coating.
Open blisters and sand damaged areas.
Allow the boat to dry while regularly checking the moisture content of the hull.
If possible, create a ventilated and low humidity environment for faster drying.
After drying of the laminate, coat the damaged areas with Watertite and sand lightly (do not use polyester filler). Apply 7 coats of VC Tar2.
STEEL/CAST IRON
Cleaning by abrasive blasting to Sa2½ standard.
For small surfaces, perform disc sanding. Apply a minimum of 4 coats of VC Tar2.
ALUMINIUM / LIGHT ALLOYS
Clean and degrease with Super Cleaner.
Perform disc sanding using an abrasive compatible with aluminium or strip by abrasive jet of aluminium oxide type, at low pressure.
Apply a minimum of 4 coats of VC Tar2.
LEAD
Clean and degrease with Super Cleaner.
Sand with emery cloth or using a rotary wire brush. Perform a high-pressure wash with fresh water and allow to dry.
Apply a minimum of 3 coats of VC Tar2.

Other
A curing time of 5 days is necessary for the complete hardening of VC Tar2.
Before this time, the surface remains fragile: Launch the boat into the water while observing the indicated times for the antifouling.
It may be necessary to sand in an env
