Primer for lacquers - One Up - International
Primer and undercoat two in one for single-component finishes.
One UP is a single-component primer/undercoat to be used above the waterline with single-component finishes and International deck paints.
Replaces the Yacht Primer and Pre-Kote while offering the same levels of adhesion and protection.
Perfectly suited before applying the topcoat lacquers.
Simple yet effective, it facilitates paint application for amateurs without compromising the aesthetic appearance or the protection of the substrate.
· Easy application with brush and roller with an extra smooth finish.
· Superior quality system including single-component finishes and International deck paints.
· Replaces the Yacht Primer and Pre-Kote while offering the same level of adhesion and protection.
Preparation
PRE-PAINTED SURFACES:
In good condition:
Wash with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry.
Sand with abrasive grade 220-280.
Clean thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
In poor condition:
Remove all old coatings.
BARE WOOD:
Sand thoroughly with abrasive grade 80-180 then with grade 280.
Carefully remove all sanding, brushing, dusting, and wiping residues.
When wiping with solvent, wait until the substrate is perfectly dry before applying primer.
STEEL:
Degrease with solvent or with a suitable detergent.
Strip by abrasive blasting to grade Sa 2½ - white metal.
When this type of surface preparation is not feasible or for small surfaces, perform disc sanding grade P24-P36 to achieve a roughness profile of 50-75 microns.
For small surfaces, perform disc sanding.
Clean thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
ALUMINIUM:
Degrease with solvent or with a suitable detergent.
Sand well using abrasive paper grade P24-P120 (compatible with aluminium).
Coarser grades are recommended to achieve perfect adhesion.
Clean thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
ZINC/GALVANISED STEEL:
Degrease with solvent or with a suitable detergent.
Sand well with abrasive paper grade P60-P120.
Clean thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
POLYESTER/EPOXY:
Degrease with solvent or with a suitable detergent.
Sand well using abrasive paper grade 180-220.
Clean thoroughly, and allow to dry completely.
Methods
Apply 3 coats (undiluted) on steel & aluminium.
On polyester, apply 2 coats (undiluted).
Apply 4 coats (undiluted) on wood.
Applying an additional coat, regardless of the substrate, will enhance its protection.
Depending on the type of roller used, an additional coat may be necessary to achieve the recommended total dry film thickness, which is 300-400 microns wet (144-192 microns dry) for aluminium.
In case of excessive sanding, an additional coat will be necessary to ensure good substrate protection and achieve optimal opacity.
To enhance the depth of the shade, mix the final coat of One UP with the recommended International finish.
