Preparation
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES
In good condition:
Any surface dirt or contamination must be carefully removed, as well as the inert layer.
Perform a high-pressure wash with fresh water (3000 psi/207 bar) and/or scraping and wet sanding using abrasive paper grade P80-120.
Do not sand dry.
If the old antifouling is incompatible or unknown, isolate it with International Primocon.
In poor condition:
Remove all traces of old antifouling using Interstrip.
PRIMER: Surface preparation of bare substrates is indicated on the technical data sheets of the relevant primers.
BARE POLYESTER: Apply Gelshield 200 as a primer for protection against osmosis, or Primocon.
STEEL/CAST IRON/LEAD/WOOD: Use Interprotect or Primocon as a primer coat.
PLYWOOD: Apply the Interprotect primer.
Tips
Mixing:
Before use, mix the product thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Dilution:
Dilution is not recommended.
The performance of the antifouling may be compromised if the required dry thickness is not applied.
Cleaner:
YTA085 Thinner for International Antifouling #3.
Control of ventilation and humidity: Ensure good ventilation during application.
Other:
Antifoulings should always be sanded with a water-based abrasive.
Never sand dry or burn an antifouling.
Compatibility/Substrates:
Suitable for polyester, wood, steel, and lead.
Do not use on aluminium/light alloys or galvanized surfaces.
Can be directly applied over most antifoulings, provided they are in good condition, except for VC17m/PTFE antifoulings.
Number of Coats by Roller:
Apply 2 coats for 12 months of protection (total dry thickness of 120 microns)
Apply a 3rd coat in the most exposed areas: waterline, around the engine.
Hazardous product, observe safety precautions.
Use biocidal products with caution. Before use, read the label and product information.
