Preparation
SURFACE ALREADY COATED WITH ANTIFOULING PAINT
In good condition:
Any dirt or surface contamination must be carefully removed, as well as the inert layer.
Perform a high-pressure wash with fresh water (3000 psi/207 bar) and/or scraping and wet sanding using abrasive paper grade P80-120.
Do not sand dry.
If the old antifouling is incompatible or unknown, isolate it with International Primocon.
In poor condition:
Remove all traces of old antifouling using Interstrip AF.
PRIMER: Surface preparation of bare substrates is indicated on the technical data sheets of the relevant primers.
BARE POLYESTER: Apply Gelshield 200 as a primer for protection against osmosis, or Primocon.
STEEL/CAST IRON/LEAD/WOOD: Use Interprotect or Primocon as a primer coat. Tips
Mixing:
Before use, mix the product thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Dilution:
Dilution is not recommended.
The performance of the antifouling may be compromised if the required dry thickness is not applied.
Cleaner:
YTA085 Thinner for International Antifouling No. 3.
Compatibility/Substrates
Usable with all types of substrates, including aluminium/light alloys and properly prepared galvanized metals.
Can be directly applied over most antifoulings, provided they are in good condition, except for VC17m/PTFE antifoulings.
Apply 2 coats of 50 microns dry for 12 months (total dry thickness of 100 microns)
Apply an additional coat on areas subjected to higher abrasion such as rudder and leading edges.
