The Victron AGM battery range features a very low internal resistance, making them particularly suitable for applications requiring high current discharges, such as for inverters, thrusters, and winches, as well as for starting an engine.

AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. In these batteries, the electrolyte is absorbed by capillarity into a glass fibre mat placed between the plates. As we explain in our book "Energy Without Limits", AGM batteries are better suited to provide very high currents for short durations (starting) than Gel batteries.

As with GEL batteries, both ranges are supplied with M8 perforated flat copper terminals, ensuring the best possible contact. Therefore, battery terminals are not necessary. The batteries comply with CE and UL specifications regarding non-flammable ABS containers, and they are covered by the two-year global warranty from Victron.

VRLA Technology

VRLA stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid, which means that the battery is sealed. Gas will escape through safety valves only in the event of overcharging or component failure. VRLA batteries are maintenance-free for life.

Low Self-Discharge

Thanks to the use of lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries can be stored for long periods without requiring a recharge. The self-discharge rate is less than 2% per month at 20ºC. The self-discharge doubles for every 10ºC increase in temperature. In cool environments, Victron VRLA batteries can therefore be stored for up to a year without recharging.

Exceptional Deep Discharge Recovery

Victron VRLA batteries have exceptional recovery capacity even after deep or prolonged discharges. However, it should be noted that frequent deep or prolonged discharges adversely affect the lifespan of any lead-acid battery, and Victron batteries are no exception.
