The power of the new custom Mega Torque motor of Seaborg belongs to the same class as the powerful Marine Power 3000. The power and speed are quiet and smooth, and the efficiency is about 1.3 times greater than that of previous motors. With all this power, the new composite aluminium housing is designed to maximise heat dissipation and keep the motor cool, thus ensuring continuous power.
The original design of Daiwa's Seaborg Megatwin reels uses a two-speed gear system. The new Seaborg uses a completely rethought system that allows the user to switch instantly between mega-power mode and mega-speed mode with the simple push of a button. During retrieval or when fighting against a huge fish, the new speed function switches smoothly and effortlessly. With this feature, an angler can alternate to the best speed depending on the situation.

The ATD brake system gives you the power and balance needed to take control of fights. The ATD is a combination of seven large carbon washers and an improved grease. The new grease has a low viscosity at rest but becomes more viscous immediately after the brake starts. This reduces the initial inertia at the start of the brake. The ATD brake washers have been modified to provide a smoother and stronger brake from the start, allowing you to approach fights calmly. This tough resistance function adjusts according to the fish's pull, the Seaborg 1200 allows for smooth braking under extreme pressure. An aluminium brake system located on the handle shaft dissipates heat while keeping the discs at a moderate temperature to maintain their performance. Additionally, an alarm function will alert anglers when the line is pulled.

The Jog Power Lever function is designed for slow fishing techniques and provides immediate response for winding the line. When you are standing with the rod and reel in your right hand, the lever can be controlled with your left thumb. Alternatively, when using your left hand to hold the rod, pinch the lever with your right hand to easily control the reel. This user-friendly function will allow you to continuously lead the fight.
The Magsealed ball bearing prevents water and dust intrusion inside the ball bearing, significantly reducing corrosion and noise from the spools. Applied to the spool shaft, an area where salt and dust intrusion is most likely to occur and where maintenance is difficult. This will improve long-term durability and smoothness.
In fishing action, it can be difficult to read anything on an LCD screen due to glare or sunglasses. The Seaborg's LCD screen displays large letters/numbers and uses a dot LCD screen to facilitate viewing of the display by anglers. Line input procedures can be selected in Japanese or English.
