A Crown Stock Anchor is based on the original design by Richard Danforth for use with landing craft. The stock pivots so the two flukes will drop down into the seabed. They can tend to "swim" when being deployed and have a reputation for not being ideal in dense gravel and weeds. Otherwise this design is regarded as high holding power. This economical anchor might suit large river craft venturing onto tidal waters.
