Collision avoidance
The Cortex M1 is a class B SOTDMA transceiver that combines GPS, AIS, and magnetic heading data with intelligent logic to proactively alert you to certain collision risks through alarms or vocal alerts that increase in volume until acknowledged. The AIS information of the boat (name, heading, and relative position) is continuously provided through AIS information broadcasted by other boats.
Anchor watch
Using the actual position of the anchor from the bow and the electronic compass integrated into the Cortex, smartAIS tracks the boat's movements and emits an alarm if the anchor drifts or in case of changes in wind speed and direction or water depth. When you are on your boat, receive alerts on your compatible mobile device via the Cortex Onboard app, or through the Cortex Monitor app when you are on land.
Man overboard
Cortex smartAIS continuously monitors the activation of the man overboard (MOB) function and emits an alarm in case of triggering. The activation of the MOB function can be done manually via the Cortex Onboard app for smartphones or automatically from an AIS MOB beacon, which initiates a tracking mode for quick rescue.
Directional vocal alerts
In the event of a collision alarm, Cortex announces the direction of the collision risk, for example, "collision alert, starboard bow." Unlike the ambiguous beep emitted by other AIS systems, Cortex informs users of the reason for the alert and the direction of the threat.
Monitoring and control
Check the status of the boat, receive alerts, and control devices through access to Cortex remote monitoring using Cortex handsets (sold separately) or Cortex smartphone apps. Connect up to 5 external sensors directly to your system for additional monitoring capability.
