Ardbeg is a Scotch whisky distillery located on the Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Founded in 1815, Ardbeg is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and is renowned for its heavily peated single malt whisky. Ardbeg’s signature whisky is the Ardbeg 10 Year Old, which is made from malted barley that has been dried over peat fires. The whisky is then aged in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 10 years.
Ardbeg also produces a range of other whiskies, including the Ardbeg An Oa. This whisky is a blend of whiskies from different casks, including ex-bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, and virgin oak casks. The whisky is then finished in a French oak vat, giving it a unique flavour profile. The whisky has a smoky, peaty aroma, with notes of sweet vanilla, toffee, and spices. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and creamy, with flavours of sweet honey, toasted oak, and a hint of smoke. The finish is long and lingering, with a hint of peat smoke, making it a truly unique whisky experience.
