Claw Nut (Claw Nut)
Stainless Steel A2
How to choose your nut?
Nothing could be simpler! First of all, it is essential to know the type of thread you need, as this determines the type of nut you should use. The two most common types of thread are metric thread and imperial thread. So make sure you know the type of thread of the screw to which you want to attach the nut. Nuts are available in different sizes, measured according to the diameter of the screw and the thread. It is important to choose the right size to ensure a strong and secure fastening.
Stainless Steel A2
A2 grade steels are the most commonly used stainless steels. They are used for kitchen equipment, devices for the chemical industry, fastening elements, and many more. Also known as 304 grade stainless steel, A2 stainless steel contains about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which gives it high corrosion resistance and good heat resistance.
Claw Nut
A claw nut, also known as a ratchet nut or serrated nut, is designed to provide additional resistance to the assembly of a screw or bolt. It is equipped with claws that engage with the surface of the part to which it is attached, creating additional clamping force and preventing the nut from rotating. Claw nuts are often used in applications where there are vibrations, dynamic loads, or repetitive movements, such as in machines, production equipment, automobiles, aircraft, etc. They can also be used in corrosive environments, as their design allows for a stronger and more durable fastening than traditional nuts.
Below is the table of technical dimensions (according to size):
d nominal | Pitch | d1 | h | m | s |
---|
M5 | 0.8 | 6.2 | 8 | 5.5 | 17 |
M6 | 1 | 7.5 | 9 | 7 | 19 |
M8 | 1.25 | 9.7 | 11 | 9.8 | 22 |
M10 | 1.5 | 11.4 | 12 | 9.8 | 25 |
The Threads
A thread is a helical shaping operation performed on a rod, tube, nut, or in the bore of a mechanical part, in order to allow for its fastening. A screw is threaded, a nut is tapped. The pitch of the screw corresponds to the relative distance travelled in translation by a screw in relation to its nut during a complete turn. For example, a screw with a pitch of 1.25 will advance by 1.25mm during one full turn for a metric pitch. The term "screw pitch" is often incorrectly used to refer to threads. For fastener products, there are a multitude of pitches: ISO (fine and coarse), American (UNC, UNF...), Gas, English (BSW), trapezoidal... At Deal Marine, we offer a range of screws and nuts with standard pitches (metric, fine) or more specific pitches such as American (UNF, UNC).
